went away after the car warmed up. A loud new noise is always cause for concern. thinking A/C compressor at this point, as the noise seemed to go away when I turned off the a/c. later turned it back on, and it did not make any noise. going to crawl under there and check it out tomorrow.

small oil leak in my MR2--those cars are as prone to leaking oil as anything Italian or British. I replaced like every seal in that engine, and something is still leaving a spot.
