As for the stop leak you're only adding a couple of ounces to the rear diff oil. It can't harm the gears. The stop leak gets absorbed by the rubber in the seals and causes them to swell slightly, stopping small leaks.

IMO the worst that could happen is the leak isn't fixed and you have to replace the seal. Best case is you spend $5 and 30 min to add it to the diff oil to stop the leak forever.

It's a good time to change the diff oil out for fresh new oil as well. Just be sure to remove the fill plug first so you don't end up with an empty diff and unable to remove the fill plug to get more oil in.
