1st time, it stuck closed. Car would overheat just idling.

2nd time, I had a whole host of problems, including the plastic oil cooler pipe. After replacing that, it still overheated :( The t-stat was partially stuck, so it didn't overheat just idling. I was OK on the highway, but stop-and-go traffic saw the temp gauge rise. New t-stat and all was good!

FWIW, because the t-stat is such a PITA to replace on these cars, I would use a dealer-sourced t-stat.
