However, they parts they now make are made in many different manufacturing locations and, evidently, several tiers of quality, including cheap, crappy aftermarket parts like these coolant reservoirs.
It's not uncommon in the world. For instance, Rubbermaid makes it's top tier products for most buyers and a lower grade for sale CHEAP at Walmart. Many manufacturers have chosen to make the lower grade products in order to keep their market share, even if they need to do it by selling cheap junk. Auto parts are no different.
As sad as it is, it's a fact of today's life. Caveat emptor has never rung more true than with today's auto parts.
