Hey guys I think I have to do my valve cover gaskets again, managed to break a bolt while trying to tighten them when they were weeping.

Anyways I'm looking for the best way to clean the vents, I have the metal ones could I just soak them in something?

Also how do you verify that they are clean?

What metal are they made out of?

Also has anyone ever replaced the crappy pcv hoses with a regular hose from an auto parts store? I notice that the oil gathers up in there and have a hunch that it's because of the ridges in the tube.
