Best bang for your buck is stock headers with straight pipes to the mufflers, plus an ECU tune.

No performance to be gained from aftermarket headers (or the ECU reflash) but you can ditch the cats and downstream O2 sensors when you get your SS job fabbed up. Plus, if you want, you can have the immobilizer neutered, which will eliminate any future funky business with no-start issues due to wiring from the ignition cylinder to the cluster, cluster to the ECU, etc. I had that done on mine when I was having the Euro file flashed in order to facilitate my O1E swap.
