muffler clamps to angle iron or uni-strut. Good point about the 5mm spacer. Is that just for the shafts with the carbon fiber half, or are they all that way?

I've been wondering if a laser could be used to align everything, too. Shoot a line across the bottom of it, then shoot a line down each side. Adjust center bearing as required and recheck.

I don't know the answer to your other questions. I would mark the shaft and flanges before disassembly. That probably doesn't help much if you're having the CV joints replaced.
