Fan Clutch. The fan clutch is designed to engage more fully as it heats up. If you can hold it with a pencil, then the clutch is done and the fan blade is just freewheeling. When it gets really bad, turning on the A/C will actually help cool things off because activating the A/C fires up the electric fan. Another symptom is things heat up when you are not moving but then cool off when you get underway.

The "thermostat control" looks like a flat rectangular silver thingie in front of the driver's side wheel well, about .5" thick measuring maybe 4 inches tall and 8 across. It has several blade connectors that activate the electric fan at different speeds depending on temperature. Clean those connections really well.

Check your electric fan for wobble, indicating the bearings are worn to heck causing it to spin slower.

Cap not holding pressure

Bleeder seals weeping & sucking air (up by the firewall) Home Depot sells a bag o seals that fit. SEARCH this site for part number.

you can monitor the ACTUAL temperature using a Bluetooth OBDII dongle and an app like Torque on your phone. The BT scanner is about $20, and the App is free or you can pay 2 or 3 bucks for the pro version.
