You know, I've never had a filter STOP flow in a gas engine.

Restriction at high flow requirements a time or two on dirt bikes that "got real dirty", but nothing else. Not even a lawn mower.

I've had a diesel tractor with fuel gelling in the filter, but that was fixed with heat.

So for me, fuel filters don't even show on the horizon until the engine runs.
Rust and flaking can block passages and ports, but that is different, and usually not at the filter.
