I rebuilt my own transmission, around a year and a half coming. I just got everything pretty well set today.
This is a 98 one owner car from St Paul, MN with 195k miles. The original A clutch basket had the top plate welded on, and was missing about a half inch of overall length. I would gladly shit on the shop that did the work in MN if I knew
who they were. It would lose first and go into limp.
There's a lot of work to be done, including a loud hum from the front end when I get up to speed. The boots on the CVs are shot, front wheel bearings need to go as well.
I may have to replace the valve body, as it does still hunt around a little on 4th gear, but stays solid on 4th under hard acceleration with the tip. Any suggestions are welcome.
The torque converter was newer from whatever the last rebuild was, so I took the chance. It does not disengage when it's not supposed to, solid engine rpms at hwy speeds.
I have a couple minor electrical things to deal with, but all in all I love this car.
