My 1997 had no slip joints. My 1998 has all four of them. Either way, dropping the exhaust is easier than trying to get the pan torqued correctly while screwing around with fiddly BS. The only hard part of the exhaust job IMO is getting it mated up to the manifolds because the hardware is fiddly and there is no clearance to speak of between the nut and the pipe. Sadly, the old hardware is actually better in this regard, because the original style lock nuts take a 12mm socket, and the copper-coated replacements take a 13mm.
