If it were me, I would dig into the wiring diagrams to figure out which one of the connectors

is associated with that center info display panel and use that info to dig in deeper. I would clean the connector(s) & carefully examine all the pins using a magnifying glass.

I like Brian's idea about dissecting the cluster, but I would probably install a used one for kicks to see if that center info display behaves any better on a different cluster. I know the immobilizer would be an issue long term, but it would be an interesting test that would provide info on which way to go on the troubleshooting. I see a used cluster on eBay for $50 right now, which is probably less than you could get one from a self service junkyard...if you could find one.

If it is the cluster, BBA Reman offers a repair service for $320.

Were there any arcs/sparks during the alternator replacement?
