It doesn't have the full functionality of the VCDS "full", but you can get by. I'm not sure if you'd be able to program the keys with it, but you could ask them.
If you're just interested in reading codes, I'd suggest a cheap chinese bluetooth OBD2 adapter from ebay ($5) and the Torque app ($5?)for your phone. I just leave it plugged in all the time and can have realtime measuring blocks and fault codes at quick access on my phone. It's helpful for me because I have a reoccuring catalytic converter light that I can clear every couple weeks or so when it pops up.
