Yes, I know. I have a 1990 W126 coupe that I'm trying to keep on the road and it's not easy, but at least the Mercedes dealer will try to help out and contact the Mercedes heritage center in Irvine, Ca, before he tells you the part you're looking for is NLA.

It's the attitude from Audi and the rest of VAG that I find so discouraging.
