When I did a drain and fill on my S6 (same 5HP24A trans) I trimmed the filter pickup to give 1/2" of clearance to the pan. Tozo recommended this way back when...actually the rec. was to take 1/2" off but I was not that bold. I think I trimmed about 5/16" (8mm) to give 1/2" total.
