just pull the wheel and you can check pad thickness without pulling anything else.

Replacement is easy if nothing is seized up. The most time is spent jacking up and securing the vehicle. Budget 2-3 hours for all 4 wheels.

Recently I used brake kits from this company for my Volvo and VW Gti. Couldnt be happier. Have about 4K miles on the Volvo and they are quiet and rust free. (in harsh upstate NY winter)
