Deposited a cashier's check in sellers account...but, he's an avid BMW forum member for many years and speaking with him on the phone a few times eased my angst. I got copies of his and his wife's driver's licenses, copies of the registration, the title, their bank info from Navy Federal (Navy Federal even added notes of the entire transaction, VIN, names, dates, etc. and held the check for a couple of days until I got confirmation from the shipper). If he wanted to try something fishy it'd would've been tough.
The seller even shipped all the spare parts and keys before he shipped the car. There was definitely some trust involved on both ends though.
