looked under the hood. Definitely smelled like burning oil, so with my valve cover gaskets leaking ever so slightly maybe a drop or so got onto the exhaust manifold. I will try to get a VCDS scan in before I go ahead and order the pump, but if I can't make that happen then I will just take my chance and order the pump since I am 95% sure that it is the problem. Even if the pump isn't the problem, at least I will have gotten it out of the way as a sort of preventative maintenance... At this point I need to do anything I can to prevent something major from going bad.
