the other way, but it doesn't seem well thought out.

At very least, looking at your pic, it seems a lot of those columns could be eliminated. Why two columns per beam, for one and for two, why is that first beam needed at all (the one furthest away in the pic)? The i-joists should be able to handle bigger spans than that.

Like I said, i have i-joists over my garage and they're spanning 23' or so. The main house is 36' deep with a steel beam in the middle. So the i-joists span 18' or so.
