when's everyone going to do their winter wax, car prep?

i'm going to try and do it with one step...I have enough metal can 1Z Metallic Polish/Wax leftover. sorry to admit, i'm trying to avoid claying the car, or using a nanoskin (fine) and having to do a full polish due to micro-marring going into winter. i'm going to try and use my PC or Flex as much as possible. just want to add some protection, without going into a full surface prep going into winter.

one possibility is removing as much tar and other road debris/fallout on the paint and using Sonax PNS and call it a season.
