a car that is overly detailed is sometimes done to mask the musty odors of a vehicle that has had a wet interior (open sunroof during rainstorm or in the case of my '01 A6, a clogged cowl drain which allowed a few inches of water to collect in the passenger foot well). Look under the seats for signs of moisture such as rusty metal or corrosion on the connections.
