There is a case for such things to some degree. The frequencies we don't hear make a difference to the frequencies we do hear because of harmonics. It's like when you strike two keys at the same time on a piano, both at least an octave apart. It sounds like more than two notes, even though it is only two notes.
One man cannot lift half a piano, but two men can lift a whole piano.
For those who are of the 'if what our senses pick up on is something which is not measured, it cannot be real' mindset, it gets complicated for them. But that's just the point of view of someone who is under the impression we have conquered science and we know everything about it. Otherwise known as lunacy.
If it sounds better with it, it's good. If it doesn't, it's a waste of time for those ears.
