Don't forget that more and more cars are being tuned for lower emissions which means that the cars upshift promptly.

The EU, as an aside and related topic, are enacting severe noise restrictions that will not allow for the current exhaust bypass systems, so sports exhausts are essentially being banned. The restrictions also apply to aftermarket exhaust systems too.
