He didn't realize I was in Mike's wagon as it went off and was sharing with me that he was pretty confident that the two off tracks shown in the video were intentional because in both cases he could see the drivers and passengers had huge smiles and were laughing as they went by him rather than looking nervous. I assured him that, while he wasn't right about the offs being intentional, he was absolutely right about the smiles and laughter.

Sheeyyaaattt - when you've gone off as often as I have, it's a matter of routine. And IMHO, that's a good thing because the more often it happens, the more comfortable you are with it.

Besides, If I wanted to go off intentionally, I certainly would not have chosen that particular location.

... the worst it's ever been. When Bill shot off the track Ken and I laughed and were looking forward to laughing and pointing after the session. I knew that area was bad so I slowed way down and it still got me.

The rest of the track was really not that bad considering conditions. I think what bit everyone there was the depth of the water / slush was so great that no tire (I was on summers and Mike was on Icebears that were new this season) could evacuate the water / slush quickly enough.

So - I rode the car out using small (very small) inputs and the only casualty was to a belly pan that scooped up a ton of slush.

Being the first car out, I did use caution, but based on conditions around the rest of the course, I thought I was carrying the correct amount of speed. I was a touch off in my mental calculations. Hindsight - dead on.

it was pouring buckets of rain all day and my Miata would literally disappear in the front straight as it splashed through there.

PLUS I Had to start of on the left side of the track and got thrown to the right side as going through that area.. never did get flung off the track though ;)
    • cool vid!
