996 GT3 is not hard to afford but it's not a real DD.

I mean, if you have to memorize bumps on the road and steep curbs, it's not a real DD.

But new cars are easily more expensive.

It's totally do-able.

Maintenance costs are exorbitant though,

Just drive it judiciously and it should be ok
