1st, there was a voluntary recall on certain builds of the EN-EL15...

2nd, if you own a D500 you can replace all your old EN-EL15 from D7000/D800/D810 for the new versions since older versions don't work properly on the new D500...

I happen to have batteries that fell into both categories. I called Nikon, they checked my registration info and stuff and they sent me a shipping label to send my 5 batteries to them.... now I'm just waiting for my new batteries to show up. Only downside is that until those batteries show up, I now only have 1 functional EN-EL15 battery to use between my D800, D500, and D7000, not that the latter gets used much at all these days.
