He wouldn't let me , and probably anybody else, look at the car before bidding. I never sold on ebay but maybe one gets pestered by a lot of idiots and if you already have a few mill in the bank and don't want to be bothered, you can just let the auction run without lifting a finger. Finally he replied that if it doesn't sell he might let me look at it, but one bid came in at the opening minimum and I didn't hear back. I think it relisted at a higher opening bid for just 1 day and disappeared so maybe he didn't honor that original sale price anyway. Well it looks like the car has seen many improvements since then and the never before seen underbody photos look respectable. The reserve is probably up 60% though vs Mr. Sparta NJ. Frustrated again.
I did buy my NJ urq off ebay without a prior inspection but that was when they were sub $4000 cars. Picked it up in person and drove it to a quattro specialist in Newark NJ. No shipping charges. The good old days. I even got visor clips at the dealership. Amazing.
