Max wouldn't have really challenged for 3rd on such old tires, and Lewis would have been forced to pick up the pace to keep Seb behind, as he needed the win. That would have freed Nico up for an easy drive to 3rd and the title.

But it's also tough to process all that from inside the car with minimal input from the team.
