Even if he had stayed, he wouldn't have landed in a competitive team. McLaren were dying to get rid of him to make room for Lewis (and because he was a douche), and Ferrari was locked up. He had already burned bridges with both Williams and BMW, so I don't know where he would have gone. Renault?
