      Rest in Peace, Matt.
    • I've had that jack for 4+ years now. I've used it to jack up my Typhoon

Mine at3 the tranny twice, front propshaft, and quite a few starters. Then there was the never ending tune ups.

SeattleS4... what # and year do you have? I went over to Seattle a few times to hang out with Steve? Rolland and some others. Real great guys.
          • Well, I have a '93 Typhoon (#254) and...

a '92 Typhoon (#279), and a Syclone (#732)....tee hee hee. I loved them when they first came out...the Sy/Ty is one of my top 5 cars of all time.

Yes, I've known Roland for several years now. I haven't met Steve but I know who he is. You may also have met Dennis (has a rare blue Typhoon and 3 turbo Buicks), Paul, and Jeff Scott.

Yep, the 700R4 transmissions don't like the torque these trucks put out, especially at the track or boost launching on the street. Thankfully the 4L80e trans is now an aftermarket option and is nearly unbreakable until over 1,000hp. :)

Quickest AWD Syclone is now an 8.85 @ 160mph

            Here's a nice video of Phil running a 10.20 @ 131mph

I sold my Ty probably 4 years ago now. It was '93 Typhoon #0003. sigh.
Can't belive you have both a Sy and a Ty. Does Roland still have both? I heard about Dennis, but never got a chance to see his. Paul went with us to KC 2000 (he was the only one to get pulled over). There was one other guy... Richard Lee? Had a white typhoon, and crutches. He still around? His ty was always so spotless.

4L80E? Wow, wish I knew about that years ago. I ended up getting a pretty expensive Brian Hartman kit and TC it held up well.

I should go lurk on the Sy/Ty forums again. I think Hoover had the fastest AWD and he was in the high 10's. Dean Ollar? Was faster but was only 2wd.

              • Awesome! I wonder where your Ty is now? Yeah, Roland still

has a Syclone and a '93 Ty (red/red). Paul lives a few blocks from me. He has two Ty's now... Little C and he bought back his old wht/wht Ty a couple years ago.

LOL...Richard Lee. Dude has been MIA for at least 4-5 years and then all of a sudden shows up two weeks ago. He still has his white Ty and it's probably still spotless.

I don't think Hartman is still into SyTy's.

Jeff had a lot to do with the 4L80e conversion set up. Too bad he moved to Indiana. I'm always trying to get him to move back here though. :)

Hoover's are still around but they sold their Sy a couple years ago to some dude in North Carolina. Hoover's eventually ran a very low 9 or very high 8. They did go through a motor or two trying to get there though.

Lots of SyTy's in the 10's now and a handful in the 9's too...nearly all of them are AWD. There are quite a few V6 twin turbo builds and some V8 twin turbo builds on the scene too. Jeff is building one for his Ty.

Nationals are in Bowling Green, KY this year.

Was that pic of your truck taken at the Great Bend Nationals?

You should get another Ty. :) They are super cheap nowadays.

I never knew Jeff's last name. I bought a front diff from him. The previous owner had lowered it too much and both axle shafts had partially popped out of the diff. They then ate the housing :-) Wasn't a pretty sight.

Yep, that was mine at Great Bend. A very bad thunderstorm came thru so everyone took shelter in the aircraft hanger.

I sold mine to a guy in Billings MT, and supposedly it is still running around there. If I make it thru all the layoffs right now maybe I'll have to look into one again. I do miss them a lot.

I usually make a trip or two every year to Seattle. Maybe I can meet up with you guys if you still meet at XXX burger or wherever.

I have some HORRIBLE pics of what my Ty used to look like. The previous kid shaved the door handles, chopped off a wiper, tried to fill in all the body lines with bondo, removed the cladding and roof rack... it spent 9 months in the body shop getting put back together.

Say Hi to Roland next time you see him. Such a nice guy. I had made a trip to Seattle to buy some parts and a set of wheels. He put my friend and I up at his house in Issaqua (sp).
    • My friend has that one; works well.

He's had it for at least a year and uses it every other month on his Jetta IV TDI. I'm uncomfortable using the floor jack instead of the sill jack because I'm not confident of where I'm lifting. That jack is good because it'll creep as you lift the car, as your lift point rotates sideways.
    • I dont see why 1.5 ton would be a problem, unless you plan on lifting the entire car from a single
