I guess if the car got beached and tried to reverse out if it, that's when bits and pieces of plastic starts to break off the undertray. We both ran wide once and ended up in the deep stuff, but at least we both knew to stay on the gas and steer ourselves out. Pretty impressed with the Blizzak on the Merc, even for those tires being eight years old (plenty of tread as the car hardly gets used in the winter, rubber still nice and flexible, not cracking), they're much better than the Yokohama IG52c on the S4.
The guys that did get beached and tried to back out, yeah they left bits and pieces behind. One guy in his wife's Golf managed to hit the one only one large piece of semi-solid ice/snow and cracked the right corner of the bumper, his wife wasn't too happy about that.
