- even if the required synthetic oil was used - caused the early version of the upper chain to stretch. Valve timing gets out of whack - beyond adjustment limit, engine misfires at idle. Needs a new upper chain. There's a stronger version of the upper chain. They made a running change to the newer version at some point relatively early on. Most of those 20v I5s are very strong. Brake vacuum pumps and oil filter housings leak oil. That's about the worst of it. Oil breather diaphragm rips. Big vacuum leak. Can be replaced without replacing the whole valve cover.
