Anyone mod a Grom for more USB power?

I have a tablet that runs maps/waze, torque, and google music via the USB connection, while I save the bluetooth connection for my phone. I also use tasker app to sleep (airplane mode/location off) and unsleep the tablet via the USB power state. However, the power output is so wimpy it can't even sustain the tablet while running. I'm curious if anyone has opened one up to change out the power regulator for something beefy, 2A or more.
