I have always wanted to run this track and will most likely run it this summer. My only experience is a track with short straightaway and lots of walls to crash into. I like the fact that Willow has no walls to crash into but the track seems very high speed. This video of an EVO crashing is scary. Looks like he lost major traction..Was he just going to fast on that turn?
    • ahhh......turn 9 at Willow.....but had other issues...walking thru it>>

The video starts out just before start/finish....
Into turn one the car gets loose due to a bad line and bad car setup (low tire maybe??). He keeps on hammering the car tho....up the hill and down then this idiot flips up his faceshield at T7 and even flippantly says so on the video title. Hes into 8 way offline then into 9 (which is basically a continuation of 8) and then does the classic screw up by running out of track on drivers left at the exit of 9 and puts two off in the dirt (or maybe 4 off more than likely). When your off there in the soft dirt most folks try to correct by cranking more rh to get back on track instead of going straight in the dirt and off the gas to scrub off speeed and then just a bit of brake till the car stabilizes and you go easily back on track. When you crank steering right there the car WILL spin and squrt the car across the track and into the dirt on the other side of the track. If your carrying a lot of speed in the spin and on the throttle even a bit, you will go way out to drivers right and about 100 feet out in the dirt are pretty big rocks and boulders...and a drainage ditch.....so guess what as the video shows. This was made about 9 months ago and I think this video at the end was a real screw up by Stan and Ollie (emergency truck operators) trying to extract the driver out of the window. Thgis gul lived but the car didnt. Just two months or so after this one another driver got killed in a late model Mini doing the very same thing.

that is a hi-speed corner....looks to me like he got a little over confident and drifted outside the line....there is all kinds of crap on the shoulders there as it is in the desert...lots of dust, rocks and debris....then it was too late..

Watch his correction late....sure looks like he underestimated his speed and did not turn in enough.....but that is my eye...

the car acted oversprung and under damped and had a bit too much oversteer for this driver's skill level. As he lost the rear, if he had locked it down with "both feet in" it could likely have been a harmless spin down the center of the track. Everybody is enarmored with oversteer and cars that rotate easily. I like to look thru the windshield at where I am going.
