Did they replace just the ends or the inners as well?

Most places just do ends only, not accounting for inner wear if there is enough wear on the outers.

If they replace the entire rack, it comes with new tie rod assemblies (inners and outers).

There's also a rubber mount on the passenger side of the steering rack. I replaced mine with a whiteline poly mount on the A3 and the rubber piece that came out was rather sloppy. The bolts that hold the rack in place are also one time use I believe if your subframe was ever dropped.

Lots of things I'd check before going with a full rack replacement.
