Sure someone may pull away from me in slower corners on exit but that is fine with me. At most tracks I have enough torque to make up not dropping to second. At VIR I use to drop to 3rf at the top of the roller coaster and then back up to 4th before hogpen, now I just leave it in 4th and I'm actually faster through that section.
